4 Tips to throwing an effortless Cinco de Mayo party
Feliz Cinco de Mayo in T-minus 5 days!! It’s not too late to plan an effortless celebration with a few friends. Today I’m sharing four quick tips that will inspire you to invite a few friends over to celebrate.
I love designing with color and patterns but to prevent your space from looking like a kid’s party, I suggest pulling one or two colors and repeat them in other areas. Floral blossoms, plates, or pillows are a great starting point. For our festivity we’re adding wooden casual seating and mood lighting. (solid color linen – multiple color mismatched plates and place mats- patterned pillow.
2. Mini tacos
Small bites allow guests the opportunity to move around and converse with others. No need for large plates when serving these mini tacos. They’re also less messy than a traditional size taco.
3. The margarita recipe
Nothing completes a fiesta without a simple margarita. I personally, prefer a recipe without a lot of filler. Check out my ‘Sip & Stir’ post with recipes for twists to the traditional margarita.
4. A fabulous dessert
“A party without dessert is just a meeting”
Because we’re going simple, we are not going to try and conquer this one ourselves. In the spirit of game show, “who wants to be a millionaire, i decided to “phone a friend”. In this case, I called on the help of Got What It Cakes for their strawberry margarita cake. This tasty treat is made from scratch with puréed strawberries, then filled with key lime pie filling (Yes, the key lime filling is from freshly squeezed lime juice and zest!!)
They then cover the outside in strawberry butter-cream, sweetened with the same purée as the cake. Not leaving out any details, Got What It Cakes, then adds a rim of sugar to look like a rim of salt around the top of the cake, and lime slices for garnish.
Thanks Mandie for sharing your margarita cake. Got What It Cakes is located at 219 Main Street in Pineville, NC. Head on over for some fresh, baked goodies.
